Mizoram: Mizoram reported 1,626 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the state's tally to 96,456, a health official said. He said the death toll rose to 314 due to the death of three more people due to the infection in the last 24 hours. At least 263 of the newly infected were children. He said the one-day positive rate rose to 20.53 per cent from the previous day's 16.83 per cent, as fresh cases were detected from 7,919 sample tests. The number of active cases now stands at 16,361. At least 1,677 people have been cured in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 79,781.

According to the government bulletin, Aizawl district has reported the highest number of cases at 61,215, followed by Lunglei district (7,060) and Kolasib district (7,028). Out of the total 314 deaths, Aizawl district had the highest number of 234 deaths, followed by Kolasib district (24) and Lawangtalai district (20). It said that out of the 11 districts, Khwajawal has not reported any Covid-19 death so far. India has reported 24,354 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a decline of 8.9 per cent as compared to yesterday. With this, the country's case tally has touched 3,37,91,061. The daily case count on Friday was 26,727 new Covid-19 cases, which is 13.6 per cent higher than what was reported on Thursday.

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, 234 deaths have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 4,48,573. The five states that have reported maximum cases are Kerala with 13,834 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,105 cases, Mizoram with 1,626 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,597 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 809 cases. At least 86.11 per cent of the new cases have been reported from these five states, with Kerala alone accounting for 56.8 per cent of the new cases.
