Mizoram CM and MNF (Mizo National Front) president Zoramthanga said on Friday that the government's flagship initiative, the Socio-economic Development Policy (SEDP), will be launched from the next financial year 2022-2023.

The SEDP is the ruling MNF's flagship programme, with the goal of achieving sustainable development by speeding up growth in key sectors through resource exploration and judicious utilisation while promoting equality and equity among residents.

Addressing during MNF's diamond jubilee in Kolasib near the Assam border, Zoramthanga said the SEDP will be fully implemented from the next fiscal year forward, covering roughly 50,000 to 60,000 people. He stated that the flagship programme will be adopted in many trades. "Under various trades, we expect to cover around 50,000 to 60,000 eligible families," he added.

If the SEDP is implemented as planned, he expressed optimism that the MNF will maintain power in the next assembly elections in 2023. "If the SEDP is executed as planned, God will prepare the MNF to maintain power in the next assembly election," he stated.
