Srinagar: Mobile phone services have been resumed in Jammu and Kashmir after three days. A senior official said on Saturday that mobile phone services have been started in the rest of Kashmir except Pulwama district. Mobile phones and Internet services were shut down all over Kashmir following the death of militant group Hizbul Mujahideen chief commander Riyaz Naikoo in an encounter with security forces on 6 May.

Only BSNL postpaid services were restored during the last three days without internet facility. "We have started the mobile network provided by all service providers from yesterday (Friday) evening. These were restored in the Valley except Pulwama district," the official said. "While Internet facilities continue on stable landline connections, we will soon restore mobile Internet facility in the Valley."

Subscribers of BSNL postpaid services complained that the SMS facility which was discontinued on 6 May has still not been restored. However, on this complaint, BSNL has also assured to start SMS facility soon.
