New Delhi: The national capital on Monday saw some improvement in air quality due to the movement of pollutants due to rising airspeed. The Air Quality Index (QI) in the city was 286 which was seen in the category of 'bad'. Delhi's average air quality index was 364 in the last 24 hours on Sunday. In Delhi, the share of burning of pollen in 2.5 pollutants was 40%.

As per the information received, it was 367 on Saturday while 374 on Friday, 395 on Thursday, 297 on Wednesday, 312 on Tuesday, and 353 on Monday. It may be noted that between 0 and 50 QI is said to be 'good', 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100, 'medium' between 101 and 200, 'bad' between 201 and 300, 'extremely bad' between 301 and 400 and 'severe' between 401 and 500.

According to Safar, an air quality monitoring agency of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, a large number of farm fires have been reported in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, which is expected to affect air quality in Delhi and NCR and northwest India.
