New Delhi: The Union Cabinet today approved a Rs 18,100 crore production link incentive promoting battery storage production. This is expected to increase production of 50,000 MW in India Union Minister Prakash Javadekar informed about the decision and said that a cabinet meeting led by PM Modi was held today.

The meeting has taken an important decision to make the country self-reliant. Union minister Prakash Javadekar said a very important decision has been taken to storage the battery. Today, we import battery storage equipment worth Rs. 20,000 crore. The new PLI announced today will reduce imports as well as start production in India. Javadekar said this will give a big boost to electrical vehicles. Long-lasting and quick-to-reach batteries are the need of the hour.

He said that in addition, solar Pawar plants are very installed in India. They are generating about 136,000 mw of solar power, but can use this power during the day and not at night. If the grid is ever balanced, many things have to be done. If there is battery storage, it will be easier. Battery storage will be very useful in shipping and railways. Battery storage will also have the option of diesel generator.
