On Tuesday, the Central Government made it clear that informal discussions were held to explore the possibility of the merger of ITBP and SSB, but currently, no such proposal for the merger of the two forces is under consideration. In a written reply to the question of Sudhir Gupta, Srirang Appa Barane, Sanjay Mandlik, Gajanan Kirtikar, and Vidyut Baran Mahato, the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai gave this information in the Lok Sabha.

On this merger, Nityanand Rai said that a vote was considered to explore the possibility of a merger of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and informal consultations were held in this regard.

Currently, no such proposal (merger of both) is under consideration.' The Minister of State for Home said that modernization of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) is a continuous process. Sufficient funds have been allocated to SSB and ITBP to equip them with the latest and advanced weapons.
