New Delhi: Modi government has approved the sale of his 100 per cent stake in Air India. Companies who want to buy its stake will have to submit their documents by March 17. According to the document released by the Modi government, under 'strategic disinvestment', Air India will also sell 100 per cent of Air India Express and 50 per cent of AISATS.

Along with this, the right of management control will also go into the account of the successful bidder. The government will use the bidding process in this disinvestment. It is noteworthy that recently Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India, had received a statement about this. He had said that rumors about the company's closure are completely baseless. He also said that the government carrier Air India will continue flying and its operations will also expand. The government has decided to disinvest Air India.

Earlier, the draft Expression of Interest was approved at the GOM meeting. There was also talk of releasing it by the end of this month. In the meeting, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that a statement will be issued soon. Earlier, the civil aviation minister had spoken about the privatization of the airline company. He had said that Air India's debt is constantly increasing, in such a situation that it can no longer be continued.
