Modi government warns Whatsapp, will invite social media forums representatives for a meeting

After the violent incidents of the country due to rumours, Modi Government has warned Whatsapp. The Ministry of Information and Technology said on Tuesday that urgent steps should be taken to stop the 'irresponsible and provocative messages' that cause the violence to spread on the Whatsapp. Ministry said that WhatsApp can not run away from its responsibilities and accountability. 

The government is planning to seek the help of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp to ban false news about the 'child thieves' and the spread of fake video. Nearly a dozen people have been beaten and beaten for rumours and fake of gossip, regarding cow slaughter and kidnapping. 

The Home Ministry will invite representatives of social media forums for a meeting. An official of the Home Ministry said that recent incidents of killing a victim in the suspected child kidnapping have worried everyone. This issue will be discussed in the meeting. Another official said that the date of the meeting will be decided soon with the representatives of social media.

Describing the 'unfortunate killings' in Assam, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura and West Bengal as "extremely tragic and miserable", the Ministry of Information Technology said that repeatedly sharing of inflammatory content by misusing platforms like Whatsapp would be a serious concern.
