New Delhi: Several important decisions were taken at the Union Cabinet meeting held today. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav and Anurag Thakur told a press conference that the government has given the green signal to the Rs 26,058 crores PLI scheme for the auto and drone sector in the cabinet meeting. Out of this, Rs.25,938 crore will be given to the automobile sector while Rs.120 crore will be given to the drone industry.

Anurag Thakur said the cabinet decision will give jobs to 7.6 lakh people in the auto sector as per official estimates. This will boost the production of electric vehicles in the country. He said this will bring in a new investment of Rs 47,500 crores in the next five years in the auto sector. The Central Government has also given the green signal to the relief package for the telecom sector. Ashwani Vaishnav said that telecom sector 9 has undergone major structural changes. The definition of AGR has been changed. The interest in AGR has been reduced to 2% per annum earlier. At the same time, the penalty imposed on it has also been abolished. This will provide a lot of relief to the telecom companies.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that 9 major structural changes are being made in the telecom sector. Changing the definition of AGR, non-telecom revenue will be separated from it. With this, 100% FDI has been sanctioned from the automatic route in the telecom sector. All forms are in the warehouses, they will be digitized. All the papers that had to be given while taking the SIM were in the warehouse. They will be digitized. KYC will now be completed online. No form will now have to be filled for all works like taking SIM or prepaid with postpaid. Digital KYC will be valid for this.
