BANGALORE: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, February 24, appreciated the spirit and farewell speech of former chief minister and BJP Central Parliamentary Committee Member BS Yediyurappa in the Karnataka Assembly.

"Being an active member of BJP, I felt that the speech by Yediyurappa is inspirational, which imbibes the ethics of the party. This will definitely give an inspiration to other party workers," Narendra Modi said in his social media handle. He also shared the post by BJP Karnataka's social media handle containing Yediyurappa's speech.

On February 22, the former chief minister announced on the House floor that this would be his final term and that he would never again run for office. "This is my last speech. You can also consider this as my farewell speech. I have already announced that I would not  contest elections. I will not come back to this session,"Yediyurappa stated in a tearful manner.

He was partaking in the discussion on the budget and said that in political circles, opposition parties are claiming that Yediyurappa is sidelined and neglected. "I have not been neglected either by the Bharatiya Janata party or by the Prime Minister," he clarified.

He claimed that the party had provided him good prospects and added that he would work for the party until he died. "I've had four chances to become Chief Minister thanks to the BJP. Yediyurappa cannot be made silent. We'll regain control soon "He declared.

He said that the BJP would win the state's election. "I'll agree to a tour of the entire state. After this meeting, I'll travel throughout Karnataka. I'll have to explain to the populace the BJP's plans. More programmes than any other government have been offered by the current BJP government," Yediyurappa said.
