Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited L K Advani at the veteran BJP leader's residence on Friday. This meeting took place before Modi was set to stake claim to form the next government in India for a third consecutive term.

Modi's visit to Advani came soon after he was chosen as the leader of the NDA parliamentary party, leader of the BJP parliamentary party, and leader of the BJP in the Lok Sabha. The purpose of the meeting was likely to seek Advani's blessings and guidance, given his seniority and experience within the party.

Later in the day, Modi was scheduled to proceed to Rashtrapati Bhawan to meet President Droupadi Murmu and formally stake claim to form the government.

In the recently concluded general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 240 seats, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, obtained 293 seats. With this majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha, the NDA is poised to form the next government.

This meeting holds significance as it marks a symbolic passing of the torch within the BJP leadership, with Modi seeking guidance from one of the party's senior-most leaders before embarking on his third term as Prime Minister.

In his earlier address, Modi reflected on his speech from 2019, where he stressed the importance of trust. He reiterated that this trust forms the foundation of the NDA, describing it as the alliance's greatest asset. He praised India's democracy, noting that the NDA has been allowed to govern and serve in 22 states across the country.

The principle of 'sarva dharma sambhava' (all religions are equal) remains central to the NDA's governance. Modi highlighted the alliance's service in states with significant tribal and Christian populations, such as Goa and the Northeast, underscoring the inclusiveness of their approach.

Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Modi outlined the NDA government’s focus for the next decade: good governance, development, and minimal interference in the lives of common citizens. He emphasized that the NDA is not merely a coalition formed for power but an organic alliance dedicated to the principle of 'nation first'.
