Ahmedabad: Former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi has not got relief from the Gujarat High Court at present in the Modi surname case. The Gujarat High Court has refused to grant interim protection on his petition. However, the court has reserved its order on the petition filed against his conviction and against the jail term.

In fact, the Sessions Court of Surat flatly refused to stay the sentence of Rahul Gandhi in the criminal defamation case related to 'Modi surname'. After which Rahul has moved the Gujarat High Court. Let us tell you that after a judge recused himself in this case, now Rahul's petition has been heard on behalf of a new judge. In the case, Geeta Gopi, a judge of the High Court, recused herself from hearing the case. Now the matter is being heard before the bench of Justice Hemant Prachhak.

Let us tell you that in the hearing held on April 20, the Surat court refused to stay the sentence of Rahul Gandhi in the case of criminal defamation related to the remarks related to Modi surname. In fact, on March 23, 2023, the court of Surat sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years under section 500. However, he was immediately granted bail by the court.
