Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, extending congratulations on his re-election. Both leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In their discussion, Modi and Putin pledged to enhance the longstanding India-Russia partnership. Modi shared details of their conversation, expressing his commitment to deepen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Earlier, Modi congratulated Putin on his re-election via social media, expressing eagerness to bolster strategic ties and people-to-people connections between India and Russia.

Putin emerged victorious in the recent presidential elections, securing a significant majority of the votes. His closest competitor was Nikolai Kharitonov of the Communist Party, followed by Vladislav Davankov from the New People Party.

The utilization of remote electronic voting marked a notable development in these elections, with a high turnout observed across various regions, including Moscow.

Putin's victory marks his fourth term as Russian President, having previously served in this role since 2000. The ongoing dialogue between Indian and Russian leaders underscores the significance of bilateral relations amidst global geopolitical shifts.
