Mogadishu suicide bomber attack;Seven killed in airport blasts

Mogadishu, Today, in an incident, at least seven people were killed in a suicide bomber attack on the African Union's main peacekeeping base in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Al Shabaab, the Islamist militant group that is trying to topple the Western-backed Somali government, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had killed more than 12 people.

According to officers, near the airport, two suicide attackers set off bomb. The first detonated a car bomb and the second tried to storm the base on foot, but was shot and exploded at the gate.

Police officer Major Nur Osman said, "AU forces sealed the area. There were many Somalis outside the gate and there were AU forces at the gate - we have not yet confirmed the casualty figure"
