MOHALI TEST: India outplay England, takes unassailable 2-0 lead

MOHALI: Host Team India took 2-0 unassailable lead in the five-match series against England after scoring eight wicket victory here at Mohali on the fourth and penultimate day of Test. 

Chasing tricky 103 runs target on the spin friendly track, home team chased down the target with only two wickets down in 20.2 overs.

Parthiv Patel remained unbeaten on 67 off 54 balls as he never allow opposition bowlers to mount pressure, while skipper Virat Kohali scored 6 off 11 balls. Team India lost two wickets in the form of Murali Vijay (0) and Cheteshwar Pujara (25). 

Earlier, England were bowled out for 236 in their second innings with Joe Root leading the way with his gallant 78 runs knock and helped his team to surpass Team India total. Injured Haseeb Hameed who failed to open and later came to bat at No 8 remained unbeaten on 59. Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav took two wickets each while R Ashwin picked up three wickets in the second innings.

After match, all rounder Ravindra Jadeja adjudged man-of-the-match for his all round performance as he scored 90 runs and picked four wickets in the match.

During match presentation, skipper Kohali praised lower order contribution in the team success saying, “It was amazing to see the lower order contribute that pushes the opposition back”.
