Varanasi: A case of molestation involving an air hostess at Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport has been reported. The accused, Mohammad Adnan, was traveling from Varanasi to Hyderabad and has been taken into police custody. His actions caused a significant delay of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to the flight’s departure.
The incident occurred on August 30, 2024, at the Phulpur police station area in Varanasi. Adnan, a Hyderabad resident who had been in Azamgarh for business, was scheduled to board an Air India Express flight to Hyderabad at 7:30 am. According to reports, Adnan began molesting a female crew member aboard the flight. Initially, the victim tried to ignore Adnan’s behavior. However, when he persisted, she reported the incident to the security officer. Following her complaint, Adnan was removed from the aircraft. Consequently, the flight, originally set to leave at 7:30 am, was delayed and eventually departed at 8:50 am.
Air India Express security officer Shashikant lodged a complaint with the police regarding Adnan’s misconduct. A police team arrived promptly, detained Adnan, and registered an FIR under Section 79 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). The accused has been presented in court, and the investigation is ongoing, according to DCP Gomti Zone.
