India's runners win championship at International Memorial Athletic Championships

Two Indian sprinters won a medal at the 22nd International Memorial Athletic Championships held in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan. Kerala's Mohamed Afzal won the gold and Haryana's Beant Singh won the bronze. The country is proud of their achievement.

The 800-meter race included runners from host Kyrgyzstan and India and Tajikistan besides Uzbekistan, Iran, Oman, Turkey, Kazakhstan. Both the sprinters of India managed to win the medal. The villages of Tehsil Asadh in Beant-Cum-Karnal are residents of Mardan Hari.

Earlier in 2015, Haryana's rising sprinter Beant Singh won a gold medal at the Youth Asian Athletes Championships. Beant says the bouts were tough and the medals were decided in close competition. He missed the change of color of the medal but he was glad he managed to win the medal for the country.
