Boxer Monica (48kg) made her semi-final spot with two other Indians after thrashing two-time World Championship medalist Josie Gabuko at the Thailand Open here. Ashish Kumar (81kg) and Manisha (57kg) are the other two Indian boxers to have made it to the last 4 after registering contrasting victories against their respective Thai rivals.

Monica defeated Gabuco 4-1 to win the gold medal at the 2012 World Championship and the bronze medal at the 2008 World Championship. She will now face Vietnam's Trih Thi Diem Kiu, who got a bye in the previous round. Playing his first international tournament since the Tokyo Olympics, last-stage gold medalist Ashish registered a 5-0 victory over local boxer Efisit Khankhokharuya. He is now going to face Indonesia's Maikhel Robard Muskete in the semi-finals.

It was a good day in the ring for Manisha, who has recently qualified for the upcoming World Championship and Asian Games. She defeated two-time youth Asian champion Porntip Buapa of Thailand 3-2 in the quarterfinals of 57kg. However, Renu (54kg) and Monika (63kg) lost their opening round matches.
