Monsoon speed slows in Chhattisgarh due to Cyclone 'Vayu'

Raipur: The monsoon, which is normally active between June 15 and 20 in Chhattisgarh, including the capital, is moving at such a slow pace that it is unlikely to reach Bastar for the next four to five days. According to meteorologists, the monsoon has been the slowest in the last 12 years.

According to the information, the speed has come down due to the wind storm but the monsoon is expected to be delayed for about 15 days. That's why it has reached only 10.15 per cent of the country's territory so far, while by June 20, it usually covers two-thirds of the country.  According to the Meteorological Department, the rainfall in June has been reduced by 44 per cent across the country since June 1.

At the same time, the monsoon is still active in Kerala, the southern part of Karnataka, two-thirds of Tamil Nadu and In North-East India. It may take at least a week for the monsoon system to get strong. The monsoon is expected to reach the Konkan coast for the next two to three days. It can cover most parts of Maharashtra by June 25. By the end of June, most areas in central India are likely to come under the monsoon system. But it is 15 days late than the limit.
