Bhopal: Monsoon is becoming active in Madhya Pradesh. During the last two days, most of the districts of Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions have received rainfall. In addition, the weather has also been favourable in the districts of Shahdol, Ujjain, Rewa, Indore, Gwalior, Sagar and Chambal divisions. Due to incessant rains, rivers and rivulets have overflowed in many districts. The spell of rain is expected to continue for the next two days.

According to the MET department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over Bhopal, Rajgarh, Sehore, Barwani, Khargone, Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Guna during the next 24 hours. In addition, a yellow alert has also been issued for Anuppur, Shahdol, Dindori, Katni, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Seoni, and Betul districts. An orange alert has been issued by the Met department for Mandla, Dindori, Shahdol, Anuppur and Umaria. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in these districts in the next 72 hours.

Eleven persons were killed and four others were seriously injured during the day on Wednesday in a lightning strike in the state amid torrential rains. Sheopur, Bhind, Gwalior and Chhatarpur districts witnessed lightning. In Indore-Ujjain, the water level of the Shipra river has increased. The temples built on the ghats have been flooded with water.
