Monsoon session of Parliament may begin from July 19 keeping in view corona protocols

New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament is expected to begin on July 19 and end on August 13. Sources said this on Tuesday. Sources said 20 meetings are expected to be held during the monsoon session which lasts for nearly a month. Normally, the monsoon session of Parliament begins in the third week of July and ends before Independence Day.

 

 

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has requested for the duration of the session. They said that due to the session, all protocols related to corona will be followed in the Parliament premises. According to data available with the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, at least 179 Rajya Sabha members have been fully vaccinated against corona before the monsoon session of Parliament.

The government is gearing up for the monsoon session of Parliament. The government has chalked out major bills for the passage of the session. These include a Bill to designate major airports, a law proposed for the welfare of parents and senior citizens, strengthening the child protection system, and setting up an Inter-State River Water Disputes Redressal Committee. The corona epidemic had affected the Parliament session since March 2020. The last three sessions of Parliament had to be concluded midway, while the entire winter session of 2020 was postponed due to public health threats.
