Monsoon session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly begins today

Bhopal: The Monsoon session of the 15th Assembly of Madhya Pradesh is going to begin from Monday, which will continue till July 26. There will be 15 meetings. The beginning of the session is likely to be stormy as the opposition parties are gearing up to raise issues including the power problem of the state, farmers' loan waiver. Briefing reporters on Sunday, Chief Secretary of the State Assembly Awadhesh Pratap Singh said, the monsoon session will be 19 days.

He has said that a total of 15 meetings will be held during the period. So far, a total of 4362 questions have been reported in the Assembly Secretariat, including 206 calling for Attention, 23 adjournment motions, 22 of non-governmental resolutions and 47 Zero Hour notices. Six notices of government bills have also been received in the Assembly Secretariat."

The Congress does not have an full majority in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly and the state government led by Kamal Nath is running with the support of Samajwadi Party (SP), BSP and Independents. Out of 230 assembly seats in the state, the Congress has 114, the BJP has 108 members. The BSP has two, SP one and independents four. A vacancy is occoured as A BJP MLA became an MP.
