The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for today, July 31, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha and Jharkhand. According to the IMD forecast on the 31st of July, Jharkhand is likely to experience rainfall ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm.
The weather office also predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha from the 30th of July to the 2nd of August, with precipitation ranging between 115.6 to 204.4 mm. Furthermore, due to the expected heavy rains, localized flooding is anticipated in both Odisha and Jharkhand.
Apart from these two states, the IMD has foreseen moderate to heavy rainfall in several other parts of the country. According to the IMD forecast, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra are all expected to experience moderate to heavy rains.
SkymetWeather recently reported that the monsoon is likely to enter a weak phase in August, and there are concerns that the El Nino phenomenon may also have an impact. The onset of the weak phase is anticipated to begin on the 4th of August.

Northwest India: From the 30th of July to the 3rd of August, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over East Uttar Pradesh.
On the 31st of July and 2nd of August, East Rajasthan is expected to experience similar weather conditions.
From the 1st to the 3rd of August, Uttarakhand is likely to have light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall.
On the 1st and 2nd of August, West Uttar Pradesh is also expected to receive rainfall.
On the 2nd and 3rd of August, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi are likely to witness the monsoon's effects.
Central India: Over the next four days, East Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh are expected to have light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall possible on the 2nd of August.
East India: From the 30th of July to the 3rd of August, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are predicted to experience light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with heavy rainfall at isolated places.
From the 30th of July to the 2nd of August, Gangetic West Bengal is also expected to have similar weather conditions.
On the 30th of July, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to experience rainfall.
On the 3rd of August, Sub-Himalaya West Bengal & Sikkim can anticipate light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy precipitation at isolated places.
On the 30th of July to the 2nd of August, Odisha is at risk of isolated very heavy rainfall, and on the 30th and 31st of July, Jharkhand may experience similar weather conditions.
Northeast India: On the 2nd and 3rd of August, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to have isolated very heavy rainfall.
During the period from the 1st to the 3rd of August, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura could also face isolated very heavy rainfall.
West India: Over the next four days, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to have light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall.
South India: On the 1st of August, Telangana is likely to have light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall.
On the 2nd and 3rd of August, Coastal Karnataka can expect similar weather conditions.
On the 31st of July, Tamil Nadu is forecasted to have hot and humid weather.
