The monsoon has touched every corner of the country, leading to a flood situation in many states and causing trouble to the citizens. In its fresh weather bulletin, the India Meteorological Department has predicted that Assam and Meghalaya are likely to get very heavy rainfall today. The weather agency's forecast states that widespread to isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over northeast India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for the next few days.

The river Ganga remains to overflow in a severe flood situation for the second consecutive day as a result of the combined effect of river runoff from the Yamuna and its northern territories. The meteorologist has predicted heavy rains in the catchment of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries for the next two to three days and West Bengal and Assam have been put on high alert.

The river Rapti has also crossed the danger mark and is flowing in severe to above normal flood situations in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. Due to heavy rainfall, rivers in the Brahmaputra basin are in a rising trend and have breached the danger mark in various districts of Assam.
