Another medal for India, Murali Sreeshankar did wonders in long jump

India's Murali Sreeshankar has rocked the men's long jump. He has won a silver medal in track and field. This is India's 19th medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the men's long jump final with a best jump of 8.08m. India's long jumper Murali Sreeshankar has won India's second medal in track and field. Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the final of the Men's Long Jump with a best jump of 8.08 meters. Sreeshankar has become the first male athlete from India to win a medal for India in the long jump event in the history of the Commonwealth Games.

Before Murali Sreeshankar, former athletes Anju Bobby George and Prajusha Malaikhal won medals in the women's category. Anju Bobby won bronze in the long jump at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and Prajusha won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This is India's second medal in track and field at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Earlier, Tejaswin Shankar had won the bronze medal for India in the high jump.

Another Athlete from India, Mohammad Anees Yahya, was left short of winning a medal in the final. He finished 5th with a best attempt of 7.97 after 6 attempts. Yahya scored a best of 7.72m in the first three attempts. However, his first attempt was a foul. In the second attempt, he jumped 7.65 meters. In the third, he jumped 7.72 meters. In the fourth attempt, Yahya jumped 7.74 m and the 5th atampt 7.58 m and the sixth attempt with a jump of 7.97 m.
