Haridwar: Due to the corona epidemic, the situation has worsened everywhere, and the second wave of corona infection has brought horrific news from the Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar. According to the news received, at least 102 devotees and 20 sadhus have been found corona infected in the Mahakumbh Mela going on in Haridwar after the first royal bath. Further information has been quoted by Health Officials that the heads of religious institutions attending the Mahakumbh fair are neither agreeing to get corona examined nor are wearing masks. Not only this, but social distance protocol is also not being followed by these individuals.
According to the estimates of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad, around one lakh sadhus and saints took a dip in the holy Ganges river on Monday at the royal bath. Dr. SK Jha, CMO, Haridwar said that the sages have been urged to isolate themselves and keep themselves away from the devotees. The corona protocol flew away due to the royal bath. We are trying to explain to them what is the protocol to avoid corona but they are not paying attention to it.
He said that in the last 24 hours, 5 Sadhus of June Akhara, 2 Sadhus of Niranjani Akhara, and one Sadhu of Nath and Agni Akhara have been found to be Corona positive. He said that 18 sadhus have been found infected in the last four days, including the Chief of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad and Narendra Giri of Niranjani Akhara. After Giri's health worsened, he was admitted to AIIMS in Rishikesh. Even after so many sadhus of the akhadas in Kumbh are found to be infected, there is no significant effect on the sadhus.
