New Delhi: As the heatwave continues to wreak havoc across the country, several states, including UP, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, have faced a severe power crisis due to a shortage of coal. In the meantime, the central government has decided to cancel 657 passenger trains to help maintain the power supply in the latter. It is being said that these trains were cancelled so that coal-laden goods trains being supplied for thermal power stations could be easily routed and coal could be supplied on time.

As many as 13 states in the country, including Delhi, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, are facing a power crisis,  which is said to have started increasing rapidly due to the scorching heat. With this, due to the shortage of coal, the power crisis has also started in many states. On the other hand, people in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan are also facing problems due to power cuts.  However, the thermal power plant has a stock of 21 million tonnes of coal. Which is plenty for ten days. Coal India together has a total stock of 30 lakh tonnes. It's a stock of 70 to 80 days. However, the current situation is a place.

What are the reasons for the power crisis?: The scorching heat is being said to be the main reason behind the power crisis. With which many states have got to see the news of the shortage of coal. Union Power Minister R K Singh has also admitted that there is a shortage of coal in many states. He had said that due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the import of coal has started to be affected, at the same time,  it is being said that due to the non-payment of dues to the coal companies in Jharkhand, there is a coal crisis.
