UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: According to new numbers and research issued by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), people feel uncomfortable in practically every country, with six out of seven people worldwide reporting feelings of fear.

According to the state media reports, even people in countries with some of the highest health, income, and education outcomes are reporting higher levels of anxiety than a decade ago.

"A majority of people are feeling anxious about the future, despite global wealth being higher than ever before," UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner said on Tuesday. "These concerns have certainly been worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic."

"We continue to degrade our natural world in our pursuit of uncontrolled economic expansion, while disparities within and between countries widen. It's past time to see the warning signs of communities in distress and redefine what development really means." New Threats to Human Security in the Anthropocene, a research released by the World Bank, advocates for stronger cross-border solidarity to address the gap between development and perceived security.

UNDP also promotes a new approach to development in the goal of assisting people in living lives free of want, fear, worry, and indignity.
