Dehradun: A shocking incident has come to light from Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Where a woman got her 12-year-old minor daughter married to a 36-year-old boy. The minor is 3 months pregnant and this was her second marriage. The first marriage was broken up due to domestic violence. As soon as the news of the incident was received, the police swung into action and arrested the culprit woman and started investigating the case.
Police have registered a case against the girl's mother for human trafficking and under the POCSO Act. A few days ago, the girl's first husband was arrested after registering a complaint under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act. The case pertains to Dharchula area of Pithoragarh. The matter was shifted to Pithoragarh women's helpline after it came to light that the child was pregnant.
According to the information received, the girl's mother and stepfather had arranged her first marriage in Dharchula in June 2021 at the age of 12. Upset with her husband's beating, she returned to Maika after some time. Then, in December 2021, the family got the girl married for the second time to a 36-year-old man from Berinag, who is three times older. Since then, the girl has been living with her husband in Berinag. The matter came to light when due to a family dispute, the girl was in a relationship with tau, who was in a relationship with her second husband. From there, the matter reached the Child Development Department. The case is also being investigated by the police.
