In the year 1994, Miss Universe pageant, Manila: The judge asks an 18 year old model from New Delhi, who enjoys writing poetry in her spare time, what she would do if she has the time and money to embark upon a great adventure.
The young woman, named Sushmita Sen, gave a heartfelt response with great aplomb.
“Adventure for me is something that I enjoy within me, and I think, children are the little things that can really bring in a lot of adventure in your life. And if I have the time and money, and I could do something, I wouldn’t say I would do something for the children who are downtrodden; any child is worth its while. I would do something for the children, so I could enjoy my time with them, go out and have a good time,” she said.
And she is with her words, motherhood. At the age of 25, Sushmita adopted a baby girl and named her Renee, overcoming all the legal hassles a single parent. In 2010, she adopted her second child Alisah.
