When we hear Mother Teresa's name, we have a kind and generous image in our mind. She was born on this day in 1910 in Scopez, northern Macedonia. She was named as Saint Teresa of Calcutta by the Roman Catholic Church. Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun. Born in Skopge, Northern Macedonia, MDR Teresa later took Indian citizenship. Let's know today some of the highlights about her.

Mother Teresa's childhood name was "Agnes Gonjha Bonascu". These early agues were later known by countless names like "Teresa" and then Mother Tersa, The World Mother Mary, Saint, etc. Even today the whole world gives examples of ther generosity and calm nature. Mother spent her entire life in India serving the oppressed.

In 1950,  Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation that had over 4,500 nuns and was active in 133 countries in 2012. The congregation manages homes for people who are dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis.Members take vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, and also profess a fourth vow—to give "wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor

She received a number of honours, including the 1962 Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize and 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. The anniversary of her death (5 September) is her feast day.
