Voting is underway in Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh as voters began queuing up at 7 AM to exercise their franchise in state assembly elections

In Madhya Pradesh, as many as 1.80 lakh security personnel have been deployed to maintain peace and ensure free and fair voting.

3,00,782 government employees have been deployed on poll duty at 65,367 booths set up across the state, which has a 230-member Assembly.

A total of 2,907 candidates are in the fray for the 230 Assembly seats.

The BJP is contesting on all the 230 seats, while the Congress has fielded 229 candidates.

Meanwhile, all arrangements are in place in Mizoram for the polling. 

The Congress and the main opposition, MNF, have fielded 40 candidates each, while the BJP is contesting in 39 seats.

 In his appeal to the voters, Shivraj Chouhan said, Polling will determine the future of MP and its future generations. "Your vote today will help the farmers and the poor. This vote is not for an individual but for the whole of Madhya Pradesh," he said. 

Ahead of casting his franchise, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan offered prayers along with his family on the banks of Narmada river.
