The British used cow and pig fat in cartridges, as soon as Mangal Pandey came to know about it, he objected to the British authorities, but he was not heard. After all this, Mangal Pandey informed the Indian soldiers and prepared them for the revolt. British military officers Husson and Lieutenant Bob were then killed by Mangal Pandey on the same protest.
