Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 23.8 crore for the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) in the state assembly, aligning with the Digital India initiative led by the Union government, according to The Times of India.

In addition to NEVA, the state cabinet has approved significant financial allocations, including Rs 9,271 crore for seven irrigation projects and Rs 217.7 crore for infrastructural upgrades at the Central Jail on Sanwer Road in Indore.

Under the NEVA initiative, 60% of the funding will be provided by the Union government, with the remaining 40% funded by the state. Urban Administration and Legislative Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya emphasized that NEVA aims to transition legislative proceedings into a paperless format.

Addressing another critical decision, Vijayvargiya stated, "The state currently lacks a dedicated aircraft. Given the emergencies our Chief Minister faces, it's essential to have our own aircraft. Today, the cabinet has approved issuing a tender to procure an aircraft."

The decision to purchase a Challenger 3500 jet, valued at Rs 235 crore, has drawn criticism from the opposition, particularly from KK Mishra of the Congress Party. Mishra raised concerns over financial prudence, citing past mishaps and insurance issues related to the state's previous aircraft.

Regarding educational reforms, the cabinet has raised monthly scholarships for students residing in hostels, ashrams, and community centers. Boys' scholarships will increase from Rs 1230 to Rs 1550 per month, while girls' scholarships will rise from Rs 1270 to Rs 1590 per month, with adjustments based on the price index in the future.

The cabinet's approval also includes funding for various development projects in the Narmada Valley, such as micro-irrigation schemes and infrastructure improvements across different districts. Notably, Rs 46 crore has been allocated for the Bokaro Micro Irrigation Project, aimed at enhancing irrigation facilities in Rampura Naikin tehsil.

The cabinet's decisions reflect a blend of infrastructure development, digital advancement, and educational enhancements, albeit amidst scrutiny and debate over financial allocations and priorities.
