MP govt to take Sr citizens by Flight under pilgrimage scheme: CM

BHOPAL: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh   has said that senior citizens of the state will have the option to travel by flights on pilgrimage scheme from next month.

"The Mukhyamantri Tirth-Darshan Yojana, a government pilgrimage scheme, would also include Sant Ravidas' birthplace. "We will also take senior citizens by flights for pilgrimage," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday.

The Chief miniser was addredresing in Bhind on Sunday to mark the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas and to launch the Chambal division 'vikas yatra'.

'All eligible senior citizens above sixty years of age can visit any of the listed pilgrimage places on government expenses under the 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana'.

The Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana provides pilgrimage opportunities for senior citizen who do not pay income taxes. The state government covers the majority of the expense of the pilgrimage by rail. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the programme that had been launched in June 2012 was put on hold for two years. However, it was reinstated last year.
