Ever since Sidhinya left the Congress party, the threat to the Kamal Nath government has been steadily increasing. Governor Lalji Tandon has written a second letter to Chief Minister Kamal Nath asking him to prove majority by conducting floor test in the Vidhan Sabha today (March 17). The matter of floor test is also heard in the Supreme Court today. In spite of the Governor's directive, the BJP has approached the Supreme Court, angry at not having done the 'floor test' on the first day of the budget session. Earlier, on Monday, the BJP held a parade of its 106 MLAs at Raj Bhavan.

According to the media report, ten BJP MLAs led by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan have filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the Kamal Nath government to prove its majority in 12 hours. On Tuesday, the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Hemant Gupta will hear the case. Apart from Shivraj, in the petition filed on behalf of MLAs Gopal Bhargava, Narottam Mishra, Bhupendra Singh, Rameshwar Sharma, Vishnu Khatri, Vishwas Sarang, Sanjay Satyendra Pathak, Krishna Gaur, and Suresh Rai, Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Principal Secretary of the Assembly and Governor, The Principal Secretary has been made the respondent.

On Monday evening, the Governor sent an ultimatum filled letter to Chief Minister Kamal Nath. He wrote, 'The language and sentiment you answered in my March 14 letter is not compatible with parliamentary decorum. On March 16, I had requested for a confidence vote in the Assembly. The session started but no action was taken to get the confidence vote, nor did you make any meaningful effort and the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 26 March.'
