Bhopal: Rain has wreaked havoc in Madhya Pradesh. A warning is being issued for rain day by day. Now, recently, meteorologist PK Saha said that Chachauda and Bhanpura in the state recorded the highest rainfall of 11-11 cm in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, Nateran, Kumbhraj, Silwani, Lateri, and Ganjbasauda received 9-9 cm, Begumganj, Gyaraspur and Pathani received 8-8 cm each, Kelsi and Jainagar received 7 cm each, Rehli, Rahatgarh, Bamouri, Raghavgarh, Udaipur, and Beawara received 6-6 cm and Guna 5 cm.

A yellow alert has been sounded in 17 districts of the state namely Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Neemuch, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Datia, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Hoshangabad, Dhar, Dewas, Narsinghpur, Tikamgarh, Niwadi, and Sagar in view of the possibility of heavy rain in the next 24 hours. PK Saha says that rainfall in these 17 districts is estimated from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm during this period. It is said that only northeast Delhi has received 'less' rainfall since the monsoon session began on June 1 this year. In fact, it has received 149.9 mm rainfall so far whereas it normally rains 332.2 mm. In addition, PK Saha has also reported that several parts of Jhalawar, Baran, Tonk, Kota, and Bundi recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Akalera in Jhalawar recorded the highest rainfall of 154 mm.

At the same time, the MET department said that light to moderate rainfall was recorded in many other parts of the state. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) commandant Pankaj Chaudhary said relief and rescue operations continued in the affected areas on Thursday. PK Saha says 19 villagers were evacuated to safer places in Chakeri village of Sawaimadhopur. A MET department spokesperson said Sawaimadhopur recorded 29.5 mm rainfall, Kota 17.2 mm, Jaipur 8.4 mm from Thursday morning till evening. He further said that heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli districts during the next 24 hours.
