MP will become Air India Soon, nationa carrier’s chairman and managing director Ashwin Lohani said in Bhopal on Monday. Ashwin Lohani was in the capital city to attend the inauguration of Air India’s new regional office in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
“Madhya Pradesh is centrally located in the country and would be very advantageous for Air India to operate its flights on different routes in the country by making it as their hub,” said Lohani.
He said Air India would focus on connecting the cities of Madhya Pradesh with the southern and eastern part of India.
The state has 11 airports and four of them -- Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Khajuraho -- are operational.
Raja Bhoj airport in Bhopal and Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport in Indore are international airports.
Air India would soon start an ambitious ‘garland’ route from Kolkata-Indore-Raipur-Jaipur-Delhi.
Besides, it will extend its existing Bhopal-Hyderabad flight to Bangalore to increase the connectivity with southern India. Enhancing the connectivity to eastern part of India, Bhopal-Raipur-Ranchi flight would also be started soon,” said Lohani.
