Bhopal: The Mahua of Madhya Pradesh has made its mark not only in India but also in London. A London-based company will buy Mahua in large quantities from Madhya Pradesh, for which an MoU has also been signed. This company will purchase mahua from Madhya Pradesh and make soft drinks, cookies, biscuits, and other products from it. Normally liquor is made from mahua, but now soft drinks, cookies, and biscuits will be prepared from mahua. The London-based company has signed an MoU to buy 2,000 quintals of mahua from the Madhya Pradesh Small Forest Produce Association.

Pushkar Singh, director of the Madhya Pradesh Minor Forest Produce Association, said that till now Mahua was used for making liquor. Now if other products will also be made from mahua, then the people associated with it will benefit even more. He said that when more products are made from mahua, they will start getting more expensive. Actually, mahua is an antioxidant food. The body gets energy by consuming it. Different parts of the body also benefit from this.

A London company has done research on this property of Mahua, and after that, it is going to make health drinks, chocolates, and cookies from Mahua. In the coming time, when the Van Mela will be organised, many companies in the country and abroad can buy about 10,000 quintals of mahua.
