The clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) saw a very rare incident. The match made headlines for Captain Cool MS Dhoni's unexpected intervention during the last over of the match as a no-ball decision was being discussed among the two on-field umpires. CSK Skipper has now been handed a fine of 50% of his match fees for breaching a Level 2 IPL Code of Conduct.

During umpire signalled no ball for a full toss delivery that was a little over waist height. While the leg umpire wasn't of the same opinion, the incident led to a discussion between the two officials before Dhoni decided barge on the field and take the matter in his own hands.

In an act that was seen unsportsmanlike from one Dhoni was criticised by some of the cricketing experts on social media. An IPL release was issued after the conclusion of the match where it was confirmed that MSD was fined 50% of his match fees for the breach of Conde of Conduct.

According to the release, "MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, was fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur." The release further added, "Mr Dhoni admitted to the Level 2 offence 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.”

The fans  had witnessed Dhoni so furious with a decision that he went against the rules and broke the guidelines of the IPL Code of Conduct. The delivery eventually remained fair, with the on-field umpires refusing to escalate the matter to the third umpire. Replays, however, suggested that the ball was above waist height and should've been called a no-ball. Nevertheless, the result eventually went in the visitors' favour.
