Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a two-time Oscar winner in the documentary short category and Meera Menon, who has worked on The Walking Dead, The Punisher and Outlander, are also touted to be working as directors to help bring Marvel Studios’ first Muslim hero to the screen. As per a leading entertainment daily, Bisha K Ali is the head writer of the series focusing on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen.

The studio is presently in search of an actor to play the lead.

Ms. Marvel comes from head writer Bisha K. Ali (Sex Education), and Marvel architect Feige promises the title character will appear in Marvel films, too, keeping up that “Disney+/theatrical MCU cross-continuity” promise. Ms. Marvel is the first Muslim hero to appear on- screen, and it’s wonderful to hear not only will we keep seeing her, but that Muslim filmmakers will be authentically directing her introduction.
