MSME sector backbone of economy, journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat: GK Reddy

New Delhi: Sri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for North East Development, Tourism, and Culture, spoke at the Confederation of Indian Industries' 'North East MSME Conclave: Building Competitiveness for Leveraging Opportunities' (CII).

The Union Minister praised the MSME sector as the economy's backbone, emphasising that MSME's must lead the way on the road to Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also stated that MSMEs will play a crucial role in the nation's economic progress over the next 25 years of 'AmritKaal.'

He said,  MSMEs in the Northeast have a lot of potential, whether it's in agriculture, food processing, tourism, mineral-based sectors, IT, or infrastructure. He says that the region's enormous potential must be realised in order to achieve inclusive development.

The Union Minister further emphasised that the central government is committed to the development of the North East Region and has taken many steps in that direction. He said that the recently announced Rs 1,500 crore Prime Minister Development Initiative for the North East (PM-DevINE) initiative will be beneficial to the industry. He went on to say that the North East Region is entering a new period of growth, with various new chances arising, and that it is critical to seize these opportunities.

The Minister also emphasised that in order to reach the goal of overall development, all stakeholders, especially MSMEs, must collaborate in order to begin on a bright path toward realising the hopes of a better future.
