For the first time in six years, the MTV Video Music Awards in 2021 will have a touch of "Bieber fever." The 2021 VMAs will feature music by Olivia Rodrigo, Machine Gun Kelly, and Lorde, among others. Justin Bieber will make his VMAs return on Sunday night at 8 p.m. EDT for an all-star extravaganza. After a mainly virtual show last year due to the coronavirus outbreak, the awards show will be conducted in person at the Barclays Center in New York.

Bieber had seven nominations this year, including video of the year for "POPSTAR" and artist of the year. He last performed at the VMAs in 2015, when he sang "What Do You Mean?"

Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, Chloe, Kacey Musgraves, Shawn Mendes, Olivia Rodrigo, Machine Gun Kelly, and Doja Cat — who will also act as the show's presenter — are among the other artists set to play. Billy Porter, Conor McGregor, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Megan Fox, Ashanti, Rita Ora, Simone Biles, and Travis Barker are among the presenters.

Megan Thee Stallion enters the show as the second-leading nominee with six nominations. BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo, a first-time nominee, each have five nods. Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion will compete with Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Rodrigo and Taylor Swift for artist of the year.
