In the Dargah Ala Hazrat, Sunni Markaz Darul Ifta's Mufti Nashtar Farooqui said on Wednesday, "Islam prohibits alcohol. Muslims should not use alcohol-based sanitizers. If an alcohol-based sanitizer is used for cleaning in the premises, then the mosque will be polluted. We cannot pollute the house of Allah. Namaz cannot be performed at any nefarious place. If the mosque is intentionally polluted, it will be a crime. I have appealed to the Imams of Mosques and Mosques Committee to refrain from using alcohol-based sanitizers."

Mufti Nashtar Farooqui has also given an option of alcohol-based sanitizer. He has said, "Instead of using alcohol-based sanitizers, Muslims should clean their hands and mosque premises with soap, detergent powder, and shampoo". However, this is not the first time to protest against the use of alcohol-based sanitizers in religious places, but in the past, priests of some of the major temples of Mathura have objected to its use.
