New Delhi: The vice-presidential election schedule has been announced, but the names of the candidates have not been revealed yet. However, there is speculation that the name of former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has almost been stamped by the BJP-led alliance National Democratic Alliance (NDA). However, it has not yet been officially announced by the party.

Now the news is coming out that three new names have also joined the race for the contenders. NDA has nominated Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the presidency. Whereas, the joint candidate of the opposition parties is Yashwant Sinha. According to media reports, Naqvi's name as the vice-Presidential candidate of the NDA has almost been agreed upon. There is speculation that if Naqvi enters the fray, the opposition will also be left with no option but to support him. A BJP leader, on the condition of anonymity, said, "As a minority affairs minister or deputy leader in the deputy Rajya Sabha, Naqvi has always shown political maturity, fairness and honesty.''

At the same time, it is also worth noting that after Naqvi's resignation, there is no Muslim minister left in the central government and the BJP MPs are also not among the Muslim MPs. It is also being said that Naqvi has played a key role in making the BJP victorious in the recent high-profile Azamgarh and Rampur by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, which can be rewarded to him.
