MUMBAI: mysterious attacker stabbed Shiv Sena leader Ashok Sawant to put on death outside his house in Kandivli in Mumbai on late Sunday.

 Ashok Sawant was attacked at around 10:45 pm as he was returning home after meeting a friend. He was also an ex-corporate in Mumbai.He was barely 200 meters away from his house when he was stabbed by the invaders.

As per sources, two men, who had been coming up in a vehicle outside his house in Sur building in Samta Nagar, moved toward to him forcefully and assault him with choppers before running away from the spot.

The 62-year-old Shiv Sena leader when was taken to a nearby hospital by his locals then he was declared dead by the doctors. Now His body has been delivered to Shatabdi hospital for a post-mortem.

The police have lodged a case under IPC section 302 and an inquiry is in progress. The police will also look at footage from CCTV cameras set up in the area.

According to media sources, the deceased had entered in a cable business and had been getting continually extortion calls for the last few days. It is also said that he had brought the issue to their notice. Media reports said the murder was almost certainly linked to these extortion threats.
