Mumbai: A 58-year-old doctor from East Jogeshwari area of Mumbai has been arrested by the Meghwadi police on Saturday for allegedly blackmailing and raping a 27-year-old female patient. The complainant said that the doctor had made an obscene video of her and then continued to blackmail her and raped her from 2015 to 2018. When the female patient stopped responding to her blackmail, the accused shared the woman's video on the Internet.

According to the police, the victim woman said that the accused first visited the doctor's clinic in May 2015. The doctor gave her an injection which made her unconscious and then the accused doctor made an obscene video of the woman. He then threatened to make the video public and then raped her for three years. During this time the woman got married, even after marriage the doctor kept blackmailing her.

When the woman refused to visit him, the accused doctor shared her video on the Internet. After which one day the woman's husband watched this video. The couple then went to the police station and lodged an FIR against the doctor at the Meghwadi police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). At present, the doctor has been sent on police remand till 17 October by the court.
