New Delhi: The Mumbai court has issued a bailable warrant against Communist leader Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday. The court has issued this warrant in the case of allegations of murder of Gauri Lankesh on the RSS. After issuing a warrant against the leader of the Communist Party, the Mumbai Metropolitan Court has stayed the hearing till April 30.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the RSS worker and lawyer Dhrutiman Joshi, which he had filed against Congress president Rahul Gandhi and CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. The Communist leader had alleged that this person was a RSS ideologue and that he killed journalist Gauri Lankesh.

Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in September 2017 outside her house, after which protests were carried out across the country. Joshi claimed that these statements have condemned the RSS, and therefore the case of criminal defamation under Section 500 of the IPC should be lodged against Yechury and Gandhi.

Joshi claimed that these statements slandered the RSS, and therefore a case of criminal defamation under IPC section 500 be registered against Yechury and Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi, through his lawyer, asked for inquiry against Mumbai's Dadar post office, claiming he hasn't received the summons yet, as a result of which the court granted him exemption till the next date of hearing.
