MUMBAI: Five-time IPL Champions Mumbai Indians have started their preparation for the forthcoming season of IPL 2023, in Mumbai. Prior to the season, the squad conducted their first outdoor practise, which included field work and a strength and fitness assessment. Players, the coaching staff, and the support staff have all begun to arrive.

The players' first training was overseen by Mark Boucher, the head coach who made his debut with the Mumbai Indians, together with the coaching staff of James Pamment, the fielding coach, and Shane Bond, the bowling coach.
The Mumbai Indians' head coach, Mark Boucher, addressed the team in his opening remarks at the start of practise to outline the goals for the first few sessions as players and coaches got to know one another.

According to Boucher, the first few days are more about getting to know your teammates, figuring out your playing style, your level of fitness, and building a foundation for technical training.

We can't accomplish anything in cricket if we don't have a base, therefore the goal of the upcoming training sessions will be to establish one while continuing to assess our performance, talking with the coaches, and concentrating on technical training, cricketing skills, and skill sets. There will be some nervousness, and that is totally great, it's natural. I want us to have fun, he said.

Along with the international team of Dewald Brevis and Duan Jansen, the first practise featured Indian players Piyush Chawla, Tilak Varma, Hrithik Shokeen, Kumar Kartikeya Singh, Mohd Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Arjun Tendulkar, Raghav Goyal, Vishnu Vinod, Akash Madhwal, and Shams Mulani. But, batting coach Kieron Pollard will be attending the training sessions soon.

At Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 1, the Mumbai Indians will play their first game of the year versus Royal Challengers Bangalore.
