New Delhi: There have been 14 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) season and the fans are getting a lot of excitement about the tournament. Fast bowler Pat Cummins, who made a comeback in the IPL after playing the series for the Australian team, has created a storm as soon as he arrives. He has set a big record in the first match of this season.

In fact, Pat Cummins, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in his very first match, hit a whirlwind fifty off 14 balls against Mumbai Indians (MI). Thus, he has also equalled Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)  captain KL Rahul's record in terms of scoring the fastest fifty in the IPL.

Fastest fifty in IPL history:-

KL Rahul - 14 balls
Pat Cummins - 14 balls
Yusuf Pathan - 15 balls

Pat Cummins got a lifeline:-

However, there came a time when Pat Cummins would have missed out on making this record. In fact, the Mumbai team had given a target of 162 runs. Chasing this, KKR won the match by losing 5 wickets in 16 overs. In the same 16th over, Pat Cummins scored 35 runs with 4 sixes. The over was by Daniel Sams. On the 5th ball of the same over, Cummins was caught by Suryakumar Yadav at the boundary for a long hit in the air. Cummins was batting on 44 off 12 balls before being caught. He hit his 13th ball and got caught, but the fate was that the ball turned out to be a no-ball. Thus Cummins got a lifeline. Cummins ran on this ball and took 2 runs. Hitting a four on the next ball i.e. free hit, he completed his half-century off 14 balls. On the last ball of the over, Cummins hit a long six and gave the team the match a win.
